Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai`i (B.E.A.C.H.) is a non-profit, volunteer organization concerned with bringing awareness and solutions to the problem of marine debris and litter on Hawai`i’s beaches.  B.E.A.C.H. organizes litter prevention campaigns, presentations to schools and community organizations and beach clean-ups in order to educate the community about the need to care for Hawai`i’s beaches, coastline and marine life.

EXTENDED DATES FOR ART DISPLAY

The Marine Debris Awareness Month Student Art Project display at the Hawai`i State Capitol auditorium is extended until November 25th, 2008. Open: 8am-5pm Monday to Friday and 8am-2pm on Saturdays.
There are 35 paintings & drawings displayed in the foyer and entrance to the auditorium (located at basement level). Metered parking is available in the parking garage of the Hawai`i State Capitol - off Miller Street.

Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai`i founders, Suzanne Frazer and Dean Otsuki, were awarded the 2008 Living Reef Award which was presented in Kona on Tuesday 26th August, 2008

The Living Reef Awards honour groups and individuals that go above and beyond in their actions to make a difference in preserving the reefs.

160 volunteers worked very hard to clear 4,150 pounds of marine debris off the beach including 3,000 pounds of fishing nets/rope.
